Define the difference between vowels and consonants. Games, songs, and other activities can make the lesson more exciting and educational. Before beginning this worksheets, remind your children of the 21 consonant letters and 5 vowel letters. Most consonant digraphs are taught in Reception (first year at school) while the vowel consonants are taught more in Year 1. Ask them what they notice between the native speaker’s vowels and their own. When two consonants are put together to make one sound, this is called a consonant digraph.
