Therefore in writing Introduction to Statistics they have sought to present only the core concepts and use a wide-ranging set of exercises for each concept to drive comprehension. The contents in the book are well structured and well organized for each unit. The interface is well designed and organized to enable easy access and pleasing display of the materials. These questions are a very appealing feature of the text. The text is very easy to read and the authors have provided good motivations for why and how the statistical methods are used. Also it would have been better if the chapter number was included in table and figure identification, for example Figure 4-5 . The fields of economics, business, psychology, education, biology, law, computer science, police science, and early childhood development require at least one course in statistics. Providing answers within a textbook is a plus because most other textbooks make you buy a solutions book, adding to unnecessary costs. If the book is to be used for a student population outside of that context, then some changes (either by the authors or instructors) in the diversity of examples will be needed.

Included in this chapter are the basic ideas and words of probability and statistics. The clear and concise learning objectives will be of benefit to students and the course instructor. I did not find any offensive cultural language in the textbook. This text adopts a descriptive style of presentation with topics well and fully explained, much like the “Dummy series”. Some plots and calculations were randomly selected and checked for accuracy. The terminology is standard. The topics are presented well, but I recommend placing Sampling Distributions, Advanced Graphs, and Research Design ahead of Probability in the text. Over time the core content of this course has developed into a well-defined body of material that is substantial for a one-semester course. It is accurate; the subject matter in the examples to be up to date, is timeless and wouldn't need to be revised in future editions; there is no error except a few typographical errors. Also in some cases, for instance page 109, the figures and titles are in two different pages. This text could be used as the primary text, for regular lectures, or as reference for a “flipped” class. However, I did not see anything offensive or biased in the book. The book topics are up to date and in my opinion, will not be obsolete in the near future. The content of this text is accurate and error-free, based on a random sampling of various pages throughout the text. The organization, in particular the ordering of the topics, is rather standard with a few exceptions. The text is not culturally insensitive or offensive in any way most of time. There are hardly any sentences more than 20 words long making the statistical messages easily digestible to students whose first language may not be English. The text is clearly intended to be used in a sequential manner as it builds upon the prior knowledge chapter by chapter. However, there are some issues with table of contents and page numbers, for example chapter 17 starts in page 597 not 598. This book uses a very standard order for the material. A teacher can use this book as the sole text of an introductory statistics. The text is very clear and direct with the language used.
